About FineSNMPSet
FineSNMPSet.exe is a small and simple program, developed by FineConnection that can be used to set an arbitrary SNMP object to a specified value. It operates almost the same as the well known snmpset.exe provided by the UCD-SNMP toolset but it has one big advantage: its simplicity and ease of installation (there is no installation at all and no dll's or other software needed!).
Just like snmpset.exe, FineSNMPSet.exe takes some command-line parameters and fires a normal SNMP "Set" command.
FineSNMPSet.exe was developed to meet the needs of customers, requesting for a simple program which allows them to automate some frequently performed (SNMP related) tasks.
Where can I use FineSNMPSet for?
FineSNMPSet.exe can be used to:
- Shutdown the outgoing interface of a firewall in case of major security threads. (After receiving a trap indicating such a major thread)
- Reboot a server automatically triggered by a "Threshold exceeded" event indicating a problem like "Running low on virtual memory" etc..
- Turn the line-out power of an SNMP enabled UPS off (and on again), in order to reboot a "Non-SNMP enabled" device which has run into a problem.
Commandline parameters
FineSNMPSet takes the following commandline parameters:
FineSNMPSet <IP address> <Community> <object identifier> <value-type> <value>
- Community: --> Use a community name that has WRITE access!!
- Object identifier: --> Don't forget the instance!!
- Value-type: <Integer | String | IPaddress >
Example: FineSNMPSet 192.168.2.20 1.3.6.1.2.1.22.1.1.4.0 integer 2
FineSNMPSet can be downloaded for free on the download page.
FineConnection is pleased to announce the availability of the new stable Monitor one version FP1.106.391 (February 2008).
For superior trending and long-term analysis, Monitor one can act as a "front end" for RRD. RRD is a system to store and display time-series data. The RRD can also perfectly be used for exporting logged trending data to text files for use in spreadsheets or databases.
If you're using HP/Compaq servers with Insight manager agents in your network,
Monitor one provides an interface to messaging gateway systems, making it easy to send alert messages to pagers, mobile phones, PIMs and wireless devices.
The Monitor one "Desktop" option allows you to save Monitor one desktop configurations to the database for quick access later.
The new version also comes with a new licensing policy. The required license type is now only determined by the number of device objects on the network map from which you want to monitor uptime. The number of concurrently running Shooters (SNMP monitors) is now "unlimited" in all versions (was dependent of the license type!)
The new version allows you to define the font name, size and color for object labels on the network map.
